Abstract

Recently, many corporations in the oil business have been attempting to optimize their management systems in order to improve efficiency by distributing the load. The corporation that this report will focus on is Saudi Aramco, one of the largest integrated international oil companies, which owns the largest reserves of crude oil in the world. The purpose of this report is to suggest solutions to two major problems faced by Saudi Aramco, as they only have one operating system, SAP, and secondly their security is currently being outsourced. This paper will go on to suggest possible solutions that Saudi Aramco can adapt in order to increase workflow of business, data management and effectively deal with the security concerns that are sure to arise. This report outlines the problem that Saudi Aramco is currently facing, and also outlines some recommendation s fix and furthermore to avoid such issues in the first place. This report will comprehensively outline the advantages of each solution offered, in plain terms to ensure a clear line of communication.

1.1 Introduction:

Saudi Aramco is tone of the most influential companies in the oil field today. It has a lion's share of the world's crude oil supply. Saudi Aramco has more business than its biggest competitor, Exxon Oil, not a dwarf by any standards, however, has not managed to contract more business than Saudi Aramco. However, the main problem with the company faces many security issues as well as problems in its database management. There are two main options that Saudi Aramco can avail, which would target its issues directly. These options include an integrated SAP ERP system, an updated SAP system with different modules which would afford great functionality and a low cost, as well as recommendations for its own security and administration department (Helman, 2010).

A single operating system, SAP is a major issue for an advanced company such as Saudi Aramco. A solution to the problem could be the integration of a parallel system of SAP which would help in distributing the workload of the different departments, namely the production and drilling departments with their own ERP systems (Allen, 2011). A broad and fully integrated SAP ERP system which would then link with the main operating SAP will provide an integrated software solution which would incorporate the key functions of the departments effectively and efficiently. Moreover, as their security is being currently outsourced, Saudi Aramco faces a huge risk of data theft and leakage of other sensitive information (Helman, 2010).
