The mobile phone is considered to be a durable and expensive product; therefore, consumers' purchases are made in a planned way, making an effort to the purchase decision, the main consumers of this product are individuals, but companies are also rapidly buying mobile phones for their employees in order to make it convenient to contact the employee at any time.
A key concept is the product policy of differentiation. Although they are virtually identical in material respects, they may be perceived very differently by highlighting the formal aspects or added features (Good et al. 1991). The Nokia 8310 has both formal aspects (such as the Nokia brand that has an image of quality in the market, its unique modern design with changeable covers and related features) and added features, (e.g., ensuring high quality that this brand offers) consumers get different phones from the market and these cell phones are perceived as unique by the target market of Nokia.

The cell phone industry is a multibillion-dollar industry and will only continue to grow. Cell phones are owned by 80% of the U.S. population and according to the Wall Street Journal, will be owned by 50% of the world population. The industry now is consisted of many companies such as AT&T, Cingular, LG, Motorola, Nokia, T-Mobile, Samsung, and Verizon and will only continue to grow in the future. Although the tremendous growth, in the industry some companies are still trying to find their place in the market.
