Active Directory

Active directory is a center of information or a repository in a Windows-based network infrastructure. It helps an organization to store identity, authorization, publication of services, application-specific information, discovering information and directory service configuration data (redbooks.ibm.com). It is as an inherent tool of security and identity management that plays a significant role in the management of a Windows Server-based enterprise such as Riordan Manufacturing.

Riordan Manufacturing is a global plastics producer and provides solutions to its customers' challenges (riordan-manufacturing.com). Therefore, it needs to develop the active directory plan and implement it in a proper way to achieve the benefits of such system.

The Active Directory Implementation will require a domain to the organization with a distinct point of management for account of each user, computer accounts and system policies.

In order to turn on to-be domain controller, a design must be prepared for the network. It means that the management needs to know the Transmission Control Protocol or Internet Protocol (TCP or IP) subnet and layout for the network that will be built. Next, once the network is developed, installation will commence to start the network.

Planning in every stage is an essential element to avoid any significant setbacks and reinstalls. A very basic layout of the network is presented below. The design is according to the factors of simplicity and ease of use.
