ENTRY 1: ME, A WRITER

Writing is an important aspect of language, and is used as a primary means of communication. The English Composition course has helped me in understanding the basics of English writing. My attitude towards this English Composition course is positive because it was helpful in developing creative as well as academic writing skills. The feelings about being required to take a composition have positively affected my performance during the course. It is because the feeling of being required to take a course encouraged me to gain an insight of the course.

INVENTORY

When working through the inventory exercises, I learned a lot about my creative writing skills. The inventory exercises allowed me to explore my natural style of writing. The journal entries were very helpful in overcoming trepidation. They also strengthen my natural writing skills and helped me gain a flair for writing.

COURSE REFLECTION

Attitudes Before and After the Course

When I started this course, I realized the benefits of English Composition. Before the starting of this course, I did not know the importance of reading for writing. However, now, I have realized that reading plays a vital role in enhancing the writing skills and to be a good writer, it is important to read more. The English Composition course encouraged me to read more in order to write better. Before starting the English Composition Course, I was somewhat reluctant to express my thoughts and ideas in writing. When doing this course, I became open minded and realized the importance of keeping the mind open to new ideas.

 The English Composition course helped me understand my natural style of writing. Knowing who I am as a learner helped me a lot with my course activities. For executing my course assignments and projects, I started to focus on course objectives and the important points of each lesson. The course helped me discover that I possess the traits of a concrete and rational learner. I prefer to work in groups and rely on facts for composing a piece of writing.

Throughout the course, I have changed in several ways as a writer, readers, and a thinker. In the beginning of the course, I was not a good analyst of written work. However, now I am aware of the importance of analyzing. I now examine and analyze everything work I read or write. It helps me understand the validity and reliability of the work. In the beginning of work, I used to take a lot of time for brainstorming and organizing my thoughts. However, during this course, I learned steps of prewriting. The learning helped me organize my thoughts
