Introduction

Rural area has the highest percentage of people with disabilities. It represents a portion of the population that is underserved and sometimes even difficult to reach. It is difficult for research organization and Non Profit Organizations to disseminate information in such areas as rural areas have access to limited transportation and communication infrastructure. Moreover, people face more economic hardships, and they do not have the same access to facilities as people in Urban areas have. Hence, awareness about disability research is very low in such areas. Like all other problems, it is also one of the most significant issues people face in such areas. In our research, we will try to address the research related problems faced by people in these areas and how it could be solve. We will analyze how the reach of information could be increased.

Research Design

People are concerned about the data dissemination issues in Rural areas and the problem faced by people with disability. However, NIDRR has provided access to the use of World Wide Web for data dissemination in rural areas, in order to increase the reach of data. Although, access has been given, but according to Dr. Tom Seekins, Director of the RTC on Rural Rehabilitation Services, says that 93% of people with disabilities would still not be able to access to information (Rooksby & Weckert, 2007, pp. 190-195). Dr. Seekins feels that a lot needs to be done and hence there are a lot of channels that must be catered, which will eventually increase the access of data to people with even disabilities. Hence, in our research we can conduct a market survey and find out possible areas and problems that must be handled, in order to increase access to database of people even in rural areas.

These problems arise because, rural areas are the most deprived when it comes to facilities and infrastructure. People do not come from a strong economic background which increases their problems. The problem is increasing significantly since urban population is increasing day by day as the world is facing severe financial crisis and unemployment rates are very high. Information technology is even not fully utilized in Urban Areas, hence; the issue is very severe in rural areas. If steps are taken to improve the situation, it is primarily directed towards urban population. Keeping this fact in mind, it is important for us to find out ways in our research that ensure that government and social bodies also pay attention to the rural areas. Development must take place in rural areas ensuring the fact that access to database increases and people make full use of the situation.

People with disabilities provide significant issues to the government to be solved. Hence, appropriate disability related research is the need of the time, so it caters to the rural problems of the country.
