Research Paper: The Persecution of the Early Church

Abstract

The persecution for the faith in the Lord Jesus is present or in the beginning to the end of the Bible. Persecution is present throughout the history of the Church: the Roman Empire, Islam, the Catholic Church in the middle Ages, communism, and religious fundamentalism. Observations indicated that religious freedom is being restricted in 40 countries, persecution raging in 30 nations. 200 million believers live in these regions. Within the persecution, most Christians are strengthened in faith, are committed to Jesus, focusing primarily on the kingdom of God and cling to the essential. Such persecution admitted varying degrees, from arrest without warrants, the decline of public rights, imprisonment, whipping and torture , execution, called martyrdom , through the payment of an additional tax (as the case of the Mozarabic) the confiscation of property or destruction of property, art, books and their symbols or incitement to renounce his principles and betray other Christians.

The Persecution of the Early Church

Introduction

Christians suffered from religious persecution, in different eras historically and currently, both the persecution of Christians in the early to their faith, at the hands of Jews , which of them grew up Christianity as a religion, and by the Empire, the Romanian who was in control of most of the land, which spread the Christianity. This continued persecution of the first century until the fourth century, when it ended the decree of Emperor Constantine named in history as the Edict of Milan in 313 phase of persecution and the form of conversions to Christianity, an important turning point in history. There are also a number of Christian denominations that have suffered from persecution at the hands of Christians of other denominations on charges of heresy, especially during the sixteenth century during the era of Protestant reform. Christian persecution was a dramatic part of the history of the early church.

Aim and Objectives

The aim of this research based study will focus on analyzing the aspects of Christianity following the persecution of the early churches. It will lead us to understand how the persecution took place in ancient history, and what the reasons behind such an action were. The main objectives of the study will be:

To identify the historic events in the persecution of early Churches,

To study the pros and cons of Persecution as narrated by historians and Christian scholars, and

To identify how Christian churches developed after the persecution.

Thesis

Christian persecution did not slow the growth of Christianity during the first centuries after Christ; even though its leaders had horrible deaths, Christianity flourished throughout the Roman Empire.

Research Method

The research methodology that will be utilized for the purpose of this research paper is to analyze the literature and historic facts present on the subject to utilize personal insights and learning in understanding about the topic. A review of secondary literature would thus, be utilized ...
