A System-wide Intervention to Improve HIV Testing in the Veterans Health Administration

Introduction:

According to the research it is proved that the identification and the treatment of HIV infected people have been made possible and contains several benefits. If the diseases are diagnosed at a timely stage, which means if the HIV infections have been diagnosed at an early stage, then the treatment can be done which can also avoid hospitalization of the patient. The research also mentions that the treatment of an HIV patient is very expensive as the first check up of an HIV infected individual costs around $15,000. The article then discusses the facts and figures of the HIV infected individuals in America. According to the research conducted by special task force, it was proved that 1.2 million people in America are patient of HIV but they are not being diagnosed up till now. Similarly 30% to 40% of all the individuals have been tested and have been diagnosed as VHA patients.

The research is an example of pre to post quasi experiment as the data collection method begins with the intervention program being implemented in the regional health care system.

Purpose:

The main purpose of the research is to identify whether a dual component of intervention increases the HIV diagnostic testing rate.

Design:

The research design includes the experiment which was conducted in five health administration facilities of Veteran. In the research conducted to gather data, two of the health administration facilities received experiment and the other three were only observed and that is the reason, this research is known as pre post quasi experiment research.
