Reintroducing corporal punishment

Introduction

Corporal punishment can be defined as a type of physical punishment which involves the infliction of pain for the purpose of reforming or disciplining the wrongdoer or attitudes which are not acceptable. This term commonly used in domestic, judicial and educational setting. Corporal punishment divided into three main types which include domestic corporal punishment which include children punished by family, parents etc. School corporal punishment included when students punished by teachers or the school administrators.

Lastly, judicial punishment includes a criminal sentence which ordered by the court or the prison authorities. Corporal punishment practiced by many families and schools since olden times. Recently, people attitude towards this practice has changed as the thinking of the people has changed (Caldwell, pp. 90). Corporal punishment, leads to negative effects that are why it was strongly opposed by many. In this paper, we will be discussing how convincing is the case for introducing corporal punishment. The issue of corporal punishment child psychology and the philosophy of education: It is needless to discuss in details about the existing situation in the world vis a vis punishment of students in educational institutions, since it is very much within the knowledge of the authorities. It is more or less identical. Still it is imperative to make some observations in the context of underdeveloped. A large number of our teachers are unaware of the child psychology and the philosophy of education along with the latest mode of imparting it in an attractive manner, especially to our children in schools or comparable institutions (Ben, pp. 102). In classroom, the natural inquisitiveness and spontaneous queries of the children are suppressed in the world. The prevalent atmosphere in and around the educational institutions and the stereotyped class routine also are not congenial to the normal development of our students. The situation poised to change for the better.

The idea that violence is not OK, whether in the home or school, is the correct setting for society's moral compass and campaigns to get that message across and support it in the home will only be undermined by reinstating corporal punishment.
