Sexual intercourse merely for gratification is becoming increasingly popular amongst college level students. This study was conducted to investigate whether recreational sex has an influence on sexual and leisure satisfaction. In today's world reproduction is just a consequence of sexual pleasure (Abramson & Pinkerton, 2002). The predictors of sexual contentment are relative in nature which differentiates in the exhibition of intimacy and recreation. The recreational indicators include self-assurance, frequency of orgasm and fitness of body which contributes to a positive impact on sexual fulfillment. The leisure satisfaction refers to the fulfillment of personal needs through the activities of your choice (Beard & Ragheb, 1980; Seigenthaler, 1997). Such activities tend to reduce stress, fatigue as well as academic stress. The hypotheses of the study were as follows:

Both males and female experience sexual satisfaction after having recreational sex

Recreational sexual interaction results in a positive impact on leisure satisfaction

A survey method was used to explore the hypotheses while the data was collected through convenience sample of undergraduate single heterosexual students who were below 25 years of age; registered in health education courses at a Southeastern university. A questionnaire which included 18 questions was developed to assess the stance towards sex as recreation. The study established that both men and women experience sexual satisfaction after having recreational sex. The relative variables for female including partnered intercourse, wide encounters and experiments in sex positions resulted in different level of sexual satisfaction. As for males, the most significant variable was the possession of knowledge about the special techniques of sex resulted in great sexual satisfaction. The second hypotheses was moderately supported as the results indicate that for females recreational sex was not one of the integral variable for leisure satisfaction whilst for males a 12% variability contributed to leisure satisfaction. However, it can be concluded that sex either in the form of intimacy or for enjoyment is normative amongst undergraduate students. There is a dire need for creating awareness about sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancy amongst students. (Marx et.al, 2010)
