Reality TV is a somewhat new fad in America that is clearing the systems' rankings and redefining programming altogether. Viewers will not seem to get sufficient of the torture, embarrassment, lure, and overhead all, drama of other normal, everyday people being put in impractical settings and manipulated for the world to see. Where did these unbelievably flourishing and rapidly multiplying displays get their start? In 1973 PBS issued the first reality TV show: an unintentionally spectacular sequence called An American Family. The show boasted a family, the Louds, who volunteered to let PBS movie their lives for seven months. throughout this time span of time the Louds came across many difficulties such as the marital breakup of the parents, account and Pat, and their surprise at the approaching out of their child, Lance (Rowen, 2000). As the blaring family disintegrated, an amazing ten million Americana observed on with ill pleasure. Although three century hours of footage were shot of the family, only twelve were used for the display and the Louds later deplored that the selected footage and editing of the display gave a misrepresentation of their lives. However, the show's drama spoke volumes and America listened with an eager ear. Years subsequent MTV's the genuine World would become the darling of Reality television and the inspiration for the average American's fifteen minutes of fame, which extends to fuel the fire of volunteer founded Reality programming today.

Why are networks giving such a push to Reality programming?
