The targeted population for this study is heart patients who have to readmit in the hospital because of the frequent heart problems, this study will also focus on the caregivers, and nurses who are involved in the monitoring of the patients of heart failure.
How was the sample selected? What are the strengths and weaknesses of this sampling strategy?
There were about 102 patients who were divided into two groups. 51 in EHM and 51 of them were in normal care group. In the starting of study there were 102 participants but only 84 of them completed the study. The age of the patients was 65 or higher than that. The participants were quit aged for the study; however they were related to the study.
Subject Vulnerability
The subjects were just interviewed and there were no vulnerability doing research on them.
Are there any HIPAA concerns that are evident in this study?
The study does not seem to have any HIPPA concern. There was no risk to the participants in interview.
What methods were put in place to ensure that the subjects were giving true informed consent?
Subjects were interviewed as well as their medical records were maintained. The follow up visits remain till 90 days that ensure the participants are responding true information. The information was also cross checked with the medical records.
What was the setting for the study?
The interviews were taken after the patient discharged from the hospital. After three months the effects of telemonitoring on depression symptom, quality of life, and caregiver's mastery.
