RC Planes

Introduction

A RC plane is the radio controlled aircraft and, controlled by a hand-held transmitter and a receiver. In this plane, functions are being done with the help of transmitter and receiver. Receiver tends to control the movement of the control surfaces which, are transmitted by a transmitter. If we consider the flying of RC plane, we find that, it is become a hobby in the world. Technology is advancing day by day, and each day brings new ideas and concepts with certain innovations and, concepts. There are certain innovations and modifications in the motors, both electric and miniature internal combustions. There are improvements in the lighter and strong batteries, which is readily available in low costs. Today, different varieties of RC planes are available in several styles and models. Governments and military organizations are using RC planes for different experiments, getting weather reports, modeling of aerodynamics and usage or RC planes as the drones or spy planes.

Discussion

The first model was built from wood which, was covered with paper. After sometimes, Monokote was introduced for covering material. Wood was cheaper than this film and come and, light weight strong varieties such as balsa wood was commonly used. The oldest planes have the high wing or the wing which was held above the fuselage. It is found that majority of the trainers and park flyers have this configuration. These planes were found easily operated and, pilots felt easy to fly these planes. There is also the advantage that, when high wing plane become out of control then, stability can be easily gained by taking the controls to the neutral position. It allowed planes to fall in a natural way to the gliding position. Low wings planes were not successful because, majority of the weight was dependent on the upper structure and, top of the planes were heavy and, these planes provided a little amount of dihedral in order to balance the flight. The balancing and positioning of wing provided a featured stability. The moment of inertia around the axis of plane was less because, it was closer to wing. Low wings planes were used during World War II and, they were also commercial and jet planes. Other than high and low wings, mid wings were considered to be the most difficult planes to fly. In these planes, wings are situated in the vertical middle of the plane. There is very few requirements to rotate the planes and, these wings are straight without any dihedral concepts and, these planes are good for military jets, sport planes and aerobatic planes but, not good for the learning pilot. These planes have the symmetry and, because of this symmetry, these planes do not fly stable or natural flying position (Motazedi, 1993).

The number of channels is directly proportional to the mechanical servos. When we consider complex models and large scale planes, then several servos can be used on control surfaces. In these cases, different channels are required to perform several tasks which include opening ...
