Within this study, we would suggest an OWL2DL extension for supporting constraints of integrity on the Semantic Web. OWL2DL, with this extension, could adapt the weak UNA and the CWA. Thus, it could be utilized not just for representing knowledge, but even for the constraints of integrity. This permits OWL to be employed within settings for closed world constraint valiadation and open world reasoning, and assists to bridge amid them. Each assumptions set has their place and value. All plans for using and deploying data are probable of including the tasks to (a) decide to way of navigating amid various settings, which might necessitate various assumptions sets (b) determine the settings, and (c) decide which assumptions set, nUNA or OWA, or UNA and SWA, to employ within the settings. As the assumptions sets differ, support to bridge amid the settings could be important.
Chapter 1: Introduction
Background of the study
The Semantic Web consists of the standard languages like SPARQL, OWL, RDFS, and RDF, which form the Stack of Semantic Web as seen in the figure below (See Figure 1.1).
Problem Statement
There has been a growing data amount, which has been consumed and published on the semantic web together with the applications of semantic web. A number of application developers in addition to the managers are currently asking question when they are provided with accessibility to the instance data collection. A main question is under what conditions and if the data is all set for being utilized. For answering this question, few mechanisms of data validation are required for ensuring the integrity and correctness of data. Whilst validation of semantics and syntax is propped up through the tools that presently subsist, the semantic web still is deficient in support of IC (Integrity Constraint).
Purpose of the study
The suggested thesis work deals with a significant data validation aspect on the Semantic Web. It maintains repair and discovery of defects within the instance data therefore facilitating Semantic Web Data's quality improvement.
Chapter 2: Literature Review
Issues in Semantic Web Data
In the midst of Semantic Web technologies' extensive application a growing amount of data has been consumed and published on the Semantic Web. Provided with a little instance data, one may conjecture whether the data is complete to utilize or not. Some mechanisms of data validation are necessary for answering this question. Validation of data is the procedure of checking data for integrity and correctness, i.e., falling in line with specific conventions, standards, and rules. It is a basic problem of data management. Devoid of proper validation of data, corruption of data might occur that might ensue in application failures, decision making errors, security threats, etc. Research has been carried out by us on the validation of data ...
