Critiquing a Quantitative Research Report

To begin with the discussion and analysis, we shall first be giving out a detailed critique for the purpose and objective of understanding and comprehending a quantitative report. For this paper, we shall be discussing of what parameters are being considered for the purpose and objective of understanding and comprehending a quantitative research.

1. What type of quantitative study was this?

Quantitative approach would help us in analyzing the financial matters which would be a necessary part for our research as every company needs to know how much to invest to have the most of revenue at the end. The statistical analysis of data would give straightforward results. Statistical analysis allows researchers to find out multifarious connecting relationships & to conclude to what degree one variable impacts and influences another. In the end, Deductive research report would enable us to settle the data as we require it.

Phases of the Quantitative Research Process

The quantitative research process consists of the following phases:

Phase Documentary: includes three (3) steps:

Step 1

"The Idea" includes the knowledge, the delimitation of the subject, the epistemological contributions related to conceptual and thematic presentation that includes the knowledge gained from experience, observation, belief theories and feelings.

Step 2

"The Problem": Once known or presented the conceptual gap of the situation, which aims to know the subject should be grounded through the elements involved as the problem statement, formulation of the problem or questions, objectives, purposes or goals of the research. It suggests that the problem statement develop by a location on the topic at hand. In that sense, we must recognize the existence of a problem, think about it and raise it or formulate it properly.

Step 3

"The Theory"covers the history, theoretical foundations, defining basic terms and the definition of hypotheses and variables. This theoretical foundation, aims to place the problem and the results of its analysis within the set of existing knowledge and guide the entire research process.

2. What was the general purpose of this study?

The article aims to highlight possible reasons as to why Mexican American (MA) individuals tend not to utilize home care services. The study focused regarding what are those possible reasons or factors, which are responsible for less usage of home care services (HCS) intended to provide care and consideration to the elderly.

3. What questions did they want to answer?

The two hypothetical claims made for the purpose and objective of understanding the study is as follows:

The use of HCS will be affected by contextual, social structural, personal and attitudinal factors;

Confidence in HCS will be affected by MA elders' and their family caregivers' cultural/ethnic factors.

4. How does answering the research question(s) add something new to what is already known? Is this study a replication of past studies or is it an original study?
