Identification of Four Critical Issues at Qantas
1. Employee Management
Management of employees is one of the most important issues for Qantas. As a result of the strike of engineers Qantas has to face a lot of troubles and financial loss. Qantas should do efforts to meet the needs and requirements of the employees. As a result of the strike a lot of customers were stuck at the airport when the flights were delayed. In order to make up with the customers and as an apology, Qantas has decided to offer free tickets to the customers. This would affect the accounting aspects and budgeting aspect of the organization (Qantas.com).
2. Environmental Change
Customers are now more aware of the environment and now they prefer to use the products and services of the organization that regard themselves and portray themselves as concerned about environment. In order to meet the needs of customers, Qantas has decided to manufacture noise free and planes with no emissions (Minzberg, Quinn & Ghoshal 1998, 49).
3. Strategic Alliances
To deal with the intense competition in the industry and to maintain the competitive position Qantas has formulated the strategies of alliances with other companies nationally and internationally. With the help of this strategic alliance Qantas would be able to expand its operation. All the services that would come into being as a result of these alliances would be launched in the end of 2012 or by mid of 2013. All these strategies require proper planning of accounting and budgeting (Scott 2002, 197).
4. Examination of Market
An examination and estimation of marketing shocks should be conducted, the unexpected competitive measures or transformations in the marketing surroundings that influenced the implementation and execution of the marketing program. The degree to which every decision taken in the plan for marketing and marketing services for instance; pricing, positioning, targeting and advertising, was done after the assessment and evaluation between many substitutes in relation of profit based criteria (Thompson & Martin 2005, 66).
