Videogames Violence and Aggression

The target market for Videogames has been increasing at a rapid pace. There have been growing cases of children being addicted to video games in the USA. There has been such a craze in the video game playing that children do not find time to involve themselves in other healthy activities (Anderson et al, 2010). The frequency of usage in children playing video games is very alarming. Not only the parents but other well wishers are getting concerned with the excessive usage of video games. The excessive usage of videogames for children poses some serious issues which are detrimental for a child's future (Lachlan et al, 2009).

Videogames currently are more violent in nature. There has been a majority of video games which are based around a violent nature. Children are getting attracted to such video games on a daily basis. The excessive exposure to such video games can incorporate the violent behavior in the real life of children (Willoughby et al, 2012).

It has been observed that avid users of videogames especially children are rapidly shaping their behaviors on the violent traits being exhibited in video games. Many shooting incidents have been witnessed in the recent past. There is a growing consensus that these violent incidents are the consequence of excessive usage of video games (Bastian et al, 2012).

Since Children are immature, they fail to understand the grave consequences being attached with violent video games. They get attracted to the violence and incorporate the violent traits in their behavior. Many Parents are concerned with the growing usage of video games which are of a violent nature. Earlier media was already destroying people's minds and now with the emergence of violent video games, there has been a negative effect on the children's behavior.

Many children have been known to become aggressive with the excessive usage of violent video games. There has been an alarming increase in their aggression levels with increased gaming time.

They are not only playing the video games but they become a part of the game and feel that life also is a video game and the scenario is similar. They do not feel any difference in their video games and the real life. All their actions in real life are influenced by the violent acts of video games. Their minds are getting affected negatively to a great extent.

Aggressive behavior and an increase in aggressive traits are increasingly being induced by rapid video game playing. Earlier children used to indulge in outdoor games and healthy activities. But with the influx of violent video games, personalities of children are getting adversely affected.
