Children ages nine to seventeen with severe functional limitations due to mental health disorders estimated to comprise five to nine percent of the population. Approximately 20% of children in the United States estimated to have mental disorders with at least mild functional impairments. One in five children and adolescents currently have or will encounter signs and symptoms of a mental health disorder during any given year. By age 16, one in three children and adolescents will have one or more diagnosable mental health disorders.
