Section 1: Research question and context

Problem definition

Purchasing eBooks through the Amazon store is probably the most common way of getting eBooks onto your Kindle.  If like most people you didn't read the Kindle user guide, then you may not be aware that there is other ways that you can transfer your books to your Kindle. The Kindle can also read other file formats, but you will need to get Amazon to convert the with the through the Amazon email service. See below, in the Using the Amazon eMail Service section.

If you are familar with moving around files from your digital camera  or an MP3 player, then putting eBooks onto your Kindle will be almost second nature(Ligong, 2010: 49). Typically, the biggest problem at this moment is that you will need to find your USB cable, but fortunately Amazon had the foresight to include the USB connector into the recharger cable.

Considering the fact that the use of Amazon-Kindle is widely used across globe Therefore, it becomes important to have user friendly information access and for this case in order to transfer the data or content through Kindle with the use of tool like USB port.

Global Aim

The overall aim of the proposed project is to design a USB port into the kindle so that people can save information from the kindle into a USB pen.

Objectives Detailing Plans and Controls

The project plans to design a USB port so that data from the Kindlt may be easily transferred into digital USB pen. The USB architecture can be divided into three separate parts. These are the USB devices, the USB host and the USB interconnect, which connects all USB devices with a single USB host. USB devices are either hubs or functions. (Juxiong, 2011: 121) A USB hub is a special device that provides one or more attachment points to the bus, while a function provides a specific capability. Examples are a USB mouse device which usually provides a HID (Human Device Interface) function while an external hard disk drive provides a mass storage function. Each USB host controller provides a root hub, which is the attachment point for all connected devices. The USB host is the central point in the USB architecture. It interacts through the host controller with the rest of the USB system. Only a single USB host per bus is allowed. Tasks of the host include the management of all transfers, detection of device attachment and removal and configuration of new devices. It is important to note, that the host plays the active part in the whole communication. All transfers are initiated by the host and USB devices only answer to requests send by the host(Ma wei. , 2010: 15-17).
