Location of India

The location of India is such that its peninsula is disconnected from mainland Asia by the Himalayas Mountains. The country is surrounded by the Bay of Bengal located in the east, the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea located in the west. The total area of the countries comprises of 3.3 million square kilometers. The country lies in the Northern Hemisphere, and extends between 8º 4' N to 37º 6' North of the Equator, and 68º 7' East to 97º 25' East of the Equator. The country is bordered by China, Nepal and Bhutan to the north, Pakistan and Afghanistan to the north-west, and Bangladesh to the east of West Bengal. Sri Lanka is also a close neighbor (India at a Glance, 2012) (Katyal, 2010).

Lifestyle and People in India

India can easily be assumed to be one of the countries that have a diverse combination of races and also has people from varying ethnicities. This is sufficient to prove that India is one country where people from different races, religions and ethnicities can live without fear. India is a country with very rich and diverse cultures, and people from different communities and belonging to different religions are able to live together in harmony in the country. Hundreds of different languages are spoken in the country, of which 18 are major languages. English and Hindi are used as the official languages. What is commendable about the people is that even though they all belong to different cultural backgrounds, they still show unity when it comes to traditions and styles of dressing. People like to celebrate the occasions together and co-operate to bring harmony among each other, which is a trait that needs to be appreciated in a country that has wide ranges of culture (Kasbekar, 2006) (Katyal, 2010).

India is comprised of complexities and dissimilarities are present among people, which makes it evident that people here depict the rich reflections of the culture, their past and traditions, and the values which are comparative to their geographical areas. The habits, differentiated manners and food are always kept in conformity to be classified as completely Indian. The country was invaded by traders, armies and migrants in the past who instilled their own faiths, habits, honorings and practices in the culture of India, which contributed to the extensively rich experience of Indian living and life that people experience today.

The lifestyle of the Indian people is also clearly manipulated and affected by the geographical regions of the country in which they live. The lifestyles of the people reflect the topography of their particular regions whether they are living in the surroundings of the enormous Himalayas or in the land of south which is naturalized. The people who reside in arid deserts or the east deltas also exhibit characteristics of their surrounding environment in their culture.
