Introduction

Code of conduct are the principles and rules of the company that are set to be followed throughout the course of business activities. The code of conduct help the company to remain competitive in the business market. There are many beneficial aspects of code of conduct that enables the company to achieve efficiency in the long run. There are possibilities that the rules and principles set under the code of conduct for the company are affected by legal, social and ethical factors. These factors lead the company to face problems in its business activities as the code of conduct and the factors collide with each other. Due to it, the company does not remain efficient enough to follow its code of conduct and face the legal, ethical and social factors at the same time. The code of conduct in the British Computer Society are an important aspect that helps the company to follow its set rules and principles easily. The British Computer Society strictly follows its code of conduct. Its code of conduct is applicable to all the members whether staff, students or part-time students. The code of conduct of British Computer Society rests on the professional principle by its members. It is a condition by the institute for all its members to strictly follow the rules and regulations. In case of any kind of breach of the code of conduct, society has the right to punish its members that are staff, students and non student members of the society (Farrell, 2003, 587).

The code of conduct includes the rule for the Public Interest, Professional Competence and Integrity, Duty to the relevant Authority and Duty to the Profession. In the Public Interest, there are included the rules about the security of data that these computer institutes share. The health policy, privacy of the data and the environmental protection from the computer hazards are also the concerns of the code of conduct. The Professional Competence and Integrity requires the members of the society to remain professionally competitive in terms of their work in the computer industry. The British Computer Society has the quality employees and works to be the number one. Similarly, the Duty to Relevant Authority is another important aspect of the code of conduct of British Computer Society (Frankel, 2007, 109).

It requires the members of the society to use their authority with care and responsibility. They cannot use their authority to exercise undue influence on anyone.
