Prayer in School

Introduction

Christianity faith allows as a legal freedom to practice faith without any restriction. In life of every Christian, prayers are very important as Jesus had taught his followers to pray, to become people of prayer. The main idea why Christians believe that prayers should be allowed in school because of their faith that praying in the morning time in school makes God participate in the progress of the school and its environment. They want to pass on what they have learnt to God to review their work, inspect it and to give feedback of what is right and what's wrong. It is believed that through prayers the strong tool of divine power is gained. As Jesus has said, "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Luke 11:9-10) (Elifson, 2010).

I tell you the truth; they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you (Matthew 6:5-6). Especially the prayer should not be said aloud because non-Christian prayers should not be disturbed. Students have the freedom to pray individually and/or collectively that should not go against the school's mission and its activities. For say, students should pray before starting a meal (Green, 2011).
