Thesis Statement

The issues faced by Christianity in the postmodern age are of crucial importance. Postmodernism has a tremendous impact on the Christian movement.

Introduction

Postmodernism does not include a single worldview, but combines several. The postmodern man refuses to think historically, and consequently is very nice to be able to define what constitutes an "Age"

The refusal of the time as a dimension of explanatory events is a major symptom of postmodern thought. By contrast, the Bible considers that historical facts are linked teleological, and take place with meaning, purpose and direction. The biblical concept of time is dominated by a philosophy of history whose theme is the omnipresent cosmic conflict between Christ and Satan. The steps in this conception of time are recognizable: the creation, fall, covenant, the Christ event, the work of redemption, the statement of decision, and the return of Christ with the assurance of end and a new beginning. Postmodern thought is concerned with this and feels no need to historical roots nor a call of destiny. This irrelevance of history and destiny produces a superficiality that has infiltrated the postmodern culture with its main elements: a life torn between the desire of technology and rhetoric of the market and a new emotional terrain dominated by the concerns of present, and irrationality that finds its origin in the rejection of modernity and its blind faith in science. The result is what JF Lyotard calls a negation of the "teacher narrative" - sound programs "who sang the hopes and faith in the liberation of humanity." The "historical deafness" postmodernist denies the relevance of the historical-biblical line and veracity of its major events. Thus, if history has no value, the facts that determine no longer do either.

Postmodern thought is concerned with this and feels neither need to historical roots nor a call of destiny. This irrelevance of history and destiny produces a superficiality that has infiltrated the postmodern culture with its main elements: a life torn between the desire of technology and rhetoric of the market and a new emotional terrain dominated by the concerns of present, and irrationality that finds its origin and give the economy a role predominant.

Of course, the ideology of the postmodern economy can stand on its own. It must take the appearance of democracy in politics and that of religious pluralism in the field. The square is then ready for fusion into a single movement of these hegemonic ideas whose religious and cultural crossroads none other than the New Age.

To be credible, postmodernism must consist of an anthropological and a social element. The first advantage of the trend of a hedonistic post-industrial technological society, and offers the possibility to satisfy the constant search for pleasure in ending the "ethics of duty."
