Post-Secondary Academic Success of Students
Post Secondary Education
Postsecondary education is a key to a stronger workforce for the nation and a better quality of life for our citizens. To remain competitive in the global economy, a greater percentage of college-age students need to be enrolled in post-secondary education and complete a degree in a timely fashion (Lotkowski, Robinsin, & Noeth, 2004). Unfortunately, many students who start a higher education program drop out prior to completing a degree; most campuses lose many students from the first to second year as well as from second year to graduation (Gohn, Swartz, & Donnelly, 2000; Seidman, 2005).
The post secondary education is referred to as the education attained by the students after finishing their high schools. The students attending universities or colleges at the graduate or undergraduate level or attending professional college are all referred to as the students of post secondary education. The under graduate degree programs are usually offered by the university based on four years of time duration. The students can start their undergraduate degree programs after completing high schools. In the starting two years of these programs, general education is given to the students while in the last two years, students are taught particular subjects that are related to their field. These degree programs are of high importance that gets the students good knowledge about their respective field. Similarly, the graduate degree programs are also referred to as the post secondary education. There are different advantages of these post secondary degrees however; the nature of advantage varies student to student. Some attain the post secondary degree in order to get good jobs and earn great deal of money. However, there are people that attain the post secondary degrees in order to enhance their level of education that provides them great knowledge and information about their respective field.
