In this paper we will be focusing on the prospects that were created in order for developing peace in the post-secession Sudan because there were many problems and differences between the south and north of the Sudan that was not resulting in creating peace between the two regions and due to that the people living here had to go through a number of challenges. Even the political organizations of the country were not ending up in coming to a point of unity that would solve the problems of Africa. But not forgetting the fact that the separation of these two regions was not an easy task and the outcomes of the separation would not be positive.
Literature Review
From the time of independence, the search for the modern state has been one of the significant issues of the Sudanese including the entire politics of Africa. Within Sudan, the quarrel in the South has additionally added to the hard work in order to recognize liberty and create a functional and stable state. It has to be clearly remembered that the Southern Sudan pursuant towards majestic policy was parted off from the North that resulted in the development of south while not only holding a diverse characteristics, but also an aggressive position for the North, which was known as one of the significant defining component of the politics of Sudan from Independence through out secession. It has been observed that the South has been seceding a number of different problems related to the past that still remain, where the south has been physically absent, although it has been producing newer circumstance that enabled a fresh approach for dealing with the challenges faced by the country (Lijn, 2010, pp n.d). Even though the concern of the South was not capable of dominating the political stage, the search for the state-building will go on, albeit with newer force. Just like before, the concerns like identity, economy and governance had to be considered, but without any impacts of the South.
Secession regarding the South does not only relates to the fact that Sudan has misplaced one-fifth of the land mass including one-third of the population, but even there are facts that geopolitics have modified. In spite of the struggles, one of the significant objectives that is peace has not been gained including the two nations that have been formed with the help of partition are teetering towards the margin of war (Abbas, 2011, pp n.d).
The secession of Southern Sudan following a referendum to citizens of the South in January 2011, came the referendum pursuant to the terms of the “Comprehensive Peace Agreement” signed between the Government of Sudan and the SPLM of South Sudan in Niavasha Kenya in 2005, has resulted in this poll for the secession of southern Sudan and the establishment of a new state in the name of (State of South Sudan).
