Introduction
Post Traumatic Syndrome or PTSD usually develops from experiencing unusual, frightening or life threatening events that causes severe strains on the mental state of an individual (Rachel Yehuda, 2002, pp. 108-114). Individuals affected from PTSD tend to avoid such places and events which bring them remembrance of such events.
People usually believe PTSD develops in soldier's participating in wars or military excursions. It can be directly inflicted on someone participating in such events, or who are witnessing it and those remembering it (Rachel Yehuda, 2002, pp. 108-114). PTSD can disturb a life of an individual in a drastic manner; it has implications on a person's social & mental state of being. However if proper measures are taken then this trauma can be overcome.

Such syndromes can be the cause of any negative event or association with something. It can have a far reaching devastating effect on an individual. The symptoms associated with this include going through the traumatic event once again, ever increasing anxiety, neglecting reminders of trauma. Examples of events that can lead to such syndrome include Wars, Earthquake, Floods, and Accidents, Sexual Assault etc.
PTSD & its Effect on Brain
PTSD has its effects on Amygdala and Hippocampus. Amygdala helps in controlling emotions and combats with fear conditioning. Hippocampus mainly is responsible for converting short term memories into long term memories and it's observed that the more severity of PTSD the less is the size of Hippocampus is.
