The study of sports in the lives of children and youth has become a promising area for developmental research and clinical practice (Smoll, 2002). With development, children's memory capacities (via the underlying neural connections) improve in speed and efficiency, and more sophisticated mnemonics (i.e., memory techniques for improving recall and recognition) can be employed.
