There are speeches in history that are amazing and are a perfect vehicle to know what happened then and how the concerned speaker thought. From the great speeches of Greece to the political speeches of a few years ago, there are many noteworthy and worth a leisurely read.
One of the most famous speeches of all time is the Abraham Lincoln delivered at the dedication of the Soldier's National Cemetery on 19 November 1863, in the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. His dissertation, diligently prepared, known as "The Gettysburg Address", was later regarded by critics in literature, historians and political scientists in general as one of the greatest speeches in history, or at least one of the most famous and quoted from the contemporary period (White, p.24).

Content of the Speech
It is a short speech but with a great involvement when pronounced in civil war, honoring the soldiers who fell defending the city in the libertarian ideals of the northern United States. Lincoln used predominantly a discursive strategy of past-present, to capture the attention of his listeners, and also at the same time exalting the love of their country from them (White, p.25).
The famous "Gettysburg Address", it contains a call to respect human rights. Topic has been discussed in the world since ancient times and in the culmination of the American and French revolutionary wars became the cornerstone to reach the modern age, and progressive Freemasonry assumed the currency of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.
Lincoln, first introduced the issue of race as he articulated in his Gettysburg Address invoking the principles of equality of men enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, Civil War redefined as a new birth of freedom for the United States of America and its citizens.
