Role of Government in Development of the Australian system of employment relations

Employment Reform

The employment development and relationship in Australia is growing from the past couple of decades. There has been many significant changes occurred in the employment reforms. Some of the changes made by the Australian government has been very innovative and contributed positively in the development of the employment relationship. The process for initiating these changes have been varied due to theses varying process for implementing changes resulted in the inclination of the workplace relationship. (STANTON, P., 2005 Pp. 95-97) It has change the organizational structure from centralized system to the decentralized system for controlling the management of organization. Many employees appreciated these changes because changes motivated the activities of awards and resulted in the negotiation agreements from the single level of contractual employment to the permanent jobs of the reliable employee. Reforms resulted in the development of the employment system. The employment system changed from the pluralist system of employment to the approach where employee's collective power for negotiating was diminished.

Comparison of Centralized system

Let's compare the past tradition where organization controlled on a centralized system. The regulations designed by the Australian government supported the centralized system for controlling management. During that era government developed a tradition of centralize regulation. A regulation of wage rate and working conditions was design in order to promote the activity of granting awards. Some other agreements by the Australia Industrial Relations Commission permitted by the national and industrial sector designed for supporting the centralized system. (GRAY, M. C., 2002 Pp. 205-207) Influence of commission faced a drastic reduction to mollify and arbitrate the matters of awards. The individual level agreements between workers and employers were found positive at all enterprise level. So what was the issue? Do the Australian reforms can work better without the involvement of the Australian commission? In order to answer this question we need to answer and highlight some of the important points resulted in the interesting changes from last couple of decades in Australia.

Changes in government and employment reforms

There have been very interesting and vital changes have taken place in Australian work reforms, these changes have been the essential element in maintaining the relationship between the enterprise and macro level. Most of the workplace issues were found un-important, used by the political parties in their socio-political and economic debate for claiming their superiority. The labor party which was in power from 1983 to 1996 struggled hard for making change through a peaceful and formal accord, during the era of 1980's many employees supported and agreed on the principal of moderate wage levels in order to fight with the inflation, they were promised that if they agreed on the current wage rate terms they will see the prosper future social and economic growth.
