Introduction

The Vagina Monologues is a play written by the feminist American Eve Ensler that has become the epicenter of a non-profit movement which fights against domestic violence. In some countries, this movement is known under the title the vaginal monologues. Over time and in all cultures of the world, the power of women has been linked to their sexuality and their ability to bear children. For this, Ensler believes that the vagina can be an instrument of power. The play is considered as the most controversial theatrical production of modern times.
