Plantar flexion is the movement that increases the angle of approximately 90° between the front of the foot and tibia, as when climbing a ladder. The reverse movement is dorsiflexion or dorsiflexion, in which the dorsal part (or higher) of the foot is about to the tibia, reducing the angle between both below 90 degrees.
