1. EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION:

Employee motivation is one of the best tools to increase employee productivity. Motivation is the best tool of a manager to improve employee performance. There is an old saying that you can take a horse to the water but you cannot make him drink the water, he will drink only if he is thirsty. Human beings have the same nature; you cannot force humans to do something against their will, even if you force them to do something against their will then they will not be able to it in a professional manner and the output will not be good. Human being must be motivated to perform a task in a professional and achieve outstanding results, so whether it is the case of worker in a garage or the sales man, a person has to be motivated to perform a job in a professional manner. (Pepitone & Bruce, 1998)

Human beings are not self-motivated; they have a need to be motivated in order to achieve results from them. Performance from an employee depends on two main factors, i.e. ability and motivation. Improving on the ability of a person is a very time consuming process but motivating a person can be done very easily and rather quickly. This company can use the following tools to improve the motivation level of their employees:

Positive feedback

Feedback on work rather than personality

Proper discipline and punishment policies

Fair treatment for all

Satisfying the cognitive requirements of employee

Assigning achievable goals to the employees

Performance based bonus and rewards

Proper recognition for all employees (Pepitone & Bruce, 1998)

Implementation of these policies will go on a long way to help the company in motivating the employees and keeping them loyal towards the company. Proper feedback would ensure that the employee knows about the strengths and weaknesses about his work and would help them determine the way forward to achieve success. Feedback is one of the best tools, which a company can use to keep its employees motivated and ensure optimal output from them.

Then fulfilling the cognitive requirements of the employees would make sure that the employees are relaxed mentally and they will be motivated to work for the company, which is fulfilling their cognitive requirements.

Taking feedback from the employees on any matter makes sure that they have a chance to speak out their heart. Taking feedback from them would give the feeling of empowerment and ownership towards the company, they would feel this is there company and they can contribute towards the betterment of the organization.

Employee recognition has always been a very powerful tool for motivating employees. Giving proper recognition to the employees would mean that the employees will be rewarded for their hard work, and this is bound to motivate them for even more improved performance.
