Physical Activity and Mental Health in Children and Adolescents
Abstract
Mental health is a concept that aims to create stable living conditions and environments that enable individuals to maintain a normal lifestyle and share in the benefits of the state. These efforts include measures to increase the chances of more children and adolescents living a normal health life with full mental well being and stability. In this paper, we will be discussing the importance of mental health and physical activity to dentists or patients with the help of studies conducted in the past. In addition, we will be analyzing an article, in which a research was conducted in 2010 to analyze the relationship and association between mental health and physical activity. Further, the paper also includes the critical analysis on the quality of the selected research paper. In the end, few recommendations, based on conclusions adopted from selected paper, have been made for children and adolescents.

Introduction
Mental health is integral to the overall health of children and adolescents and it is essential for survival of youth, since it determines the behavior, perception, thinking, communication, and understanding level of youth. The mental health issues can be addressed from a broad perspective from improving the emotional well-being through treatment and prevention of mental illness, serious mental disorders and suicide.
In Canada, the planning and delivery of mental health services is primarily under provincial and territorial authorities. The federal government, mainly through Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada is working in various ways with the provinces and territories to develop systems of mental health services that are coordinated, and meet the needs of adolescents. Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada contribute to research on mental health and development policies and programs to promote mental health and to focus on the needs of adolescents with problems or mental disorders.

Despite causing more disease than cancer or heart disease, mental disorders remain deeply ignored and marginalized in the developing world. It is the conclusion of a series of studies on mental health in the world published in the medical journal The Lancet. According to experts, mental disorders account for about 14% of diseases in the world. It causes 800,000 suicides of children and adolescents every year, mostly in poorer countries. They are also problems that are costing lives due to the high number of suicides that occur each year in the world's poorest countries.
Despite the severity of the problem, only 10% of mental patients including children and adolescents in the developing world receive any treatment.
