Paul wrote a letter to the Philippians while in prison in Rome. He visited the city on his second missionary journey as described in Acts 16:11-40. Paul was very well received there? until he threw a demon from a slave girl? which made money for its owner? foretelling the future. Paul and his companion Strength then were beaten and thrown in jail. The earthquake opened the doors? but they could not escape. As a result? the jailer was converted when he heard the gospel. Paul used his Roman citizenship to gain his freedom the following day.
