Personality Dimensions
Personality is one's visible characters. These visible aspects of one's character can either impress others or it can have a negative impression too. There are five basic dimensions of personality. These dimensions discovered and explained by some psychologists. These five dimensions are the broad categories of personality traits. These big five personality dimensions are extroversion, emotional stability, agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness to experience.
Extroversion
There are various personality traits, from which one is extroversion. Extrovert is a trait which means that the person is extremely outspoken and expresses whatever he feels inside. These people are socially very active, and always try to increase their networking. They are not shy and always feel comfortable in any gathering even if they do not know anyone there.
Emotional stability
Individuals with high emotional stability experience positive emotional state. These people usually psychologically feel secure in every aspect of life. Now, emotional stability can be of two types. It can either be high or low. When the individual has high emotional stability, he or she feels secure. If the individual gets the feeling of depression, anger, anxiety and embarrassment, it means he, or she has low emotional stability. These people often experience job related stress which eventually lead to the emotional stability.
Agreeableness
This personality dimension includes characteristics such as trust, kindness, affection, and other pro-social behaviors. In simple words, the individual who has high agreeableness trait is someone who gets along with everyone. These people try their best to avoid conflicts. Similarly, people with low agreeableness traits considered as rude, uncaring, cold and aggressive.
Conscientiousness
Individuals with high conscientiousness traits are very thoughtful. This thoughtfulness is with good impulse control and goal directed behaviors. These individuals are also very responsible. They are very hard working individuals because of these characteristics in their nature. Employees with low conscientiousness are totally opposite. They are lazy, not responsible, and careless and are inefficient in their work. Conscientiousness directly linked with the job performance.
Openness to experience
Openness to experience reflects the individual's interests and willingness to take a risk. These people are curious, creative, broad minded, intelligent and imaginative. These traits make these individuals express their feelings very openly. They do not restrict themselves from expressing anything.
