Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of “Personality Diagnosis” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on “Personality Diagnosis” and its relation with “Five Axis Diagnosis”. The research also analyzes many aspects of “Personality Diagnosis” and tries to gauge its effect on “Five Axis Diagnosis”. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for “Personality Diagnosis” and tries to describe the overall effect of “Personality Diagnosis” on “Five Axis Diagnosis”.

Introduction

Mr. Alan was a 28 years old man with a record of temper unsteadiness. He diverges from cheerful to depress to irritable very rapidly, a number of times every day. Typically, his mood change is related to apparent rejection, praise, affection or criticism from others (Linehan, 2003). He was an intellectual man with a really good sense for business. Alan went to academy at Swarth-More and then acquired his M.B.A at the California University Berkeley. He then moved to NY, where he was working as a sub-editor in a publishing company. Mr. Alan has a Paranoid disorder, this personality disorder appears as a prodrome to frank schizophrenia or it may be due to delusional disorder. Alan was at a risk of agoraphobia that is majorly caused by depression and compulsive-obsessive disorder due to substance abuse. It may be caused due to psychotic disorder because of any episode of depression Alan was having (Blashfield and Breen, 2009).

Clinical meetings can be time consuming and intrusive, resulting in the evolution of patients tired or discouraged by the method of interview or unwilling to accept the ideas and behaviors that may appear humiliating or strange (Clark, 2007).
