Personal Statement for Application for PhD Program
Preference for Criminal Justice
To be well read, seek knowledge and live a meaningful life has been my preference and a guiding principle of my academic efforts. I belong to the generation of the students in US who graduated in the 20th century, when the market was undergoing several challenges. As the product of the education al system governed by these challenges, the students have become pragmatic minded and regard the academic pursuits as a demand of achieving the material wealth. As far as I am concerned, I have enacted to my deeply earned belief that the aim of the intellectual endeavors and the meaning of life are to rely on the ultimate goal to contribute to the society. With such an aim in life I would like to apply for PhD admission in to one of the renowned criminal justice and law university “the Michigan Ste University”. I believe that I am a competent applicant of this program due to my commendable academic and work experience in the field of criminology. I possess an ample potential and the skills needed to undertake a legal practice and research that the education and the work experience have endowed me with (Lab, 2010). I was often graced with stories from his crime experience from this; I became interested in crime specifically from theta of psychology and justice point of view. The kind of behavior intrigues me and how it applies to the criminal justice is even further intriguing, I have always been interested in youth crimes and women injustice cases (Lab, 2010). My interest will make me learn better and progress at every step of the education tenure. My passion for criminal behavior has opened me to a new world of literature in this genre. I used to study the cases and the books related to the criminal behavior which increased my interest in law and criminology. I am specifically interested in the crime books published by Anne Rule among others. I came across and was captivated by the unethical and controversial Stanfir prison case which was administered by Philip G Zimbardo. I enjoyed studying Little Albert which was a great insight into the response to fear, and although unethical, it benefitted me right top to the present day (Bodine, 2005). I am now a settled, mature and determined individual who wants to undertake this course and since leaving the secondary school I have gained a wide array of skills. They have developed through learning and job experience. I believe that as a mature student with a vast life and professional experience, my interest to the course will be invaluable. Due to my integration with my grandfather and my reading of the criminal literature, my interests are focused towards ...
