Personal Reflection

The Early Influences

Since childhood, I have been fascinated with the learning and education. I am always inspired by the broader understandings and knowledge. I believe that in depth knowledge of relevant study will continuously help me to stay ahead of the curve. Whenever I see others in that doctorate suits, it fills me with energy and enthusiasm to pursue this program to embark a journey of ever growing success. The essence of education is to prepare doctoral scholars, who will develop the knowledge and facilitate the transition from knowledge to practice. I am highly influenced by my son. He always encourages me to pursue advance studies relevant to my subject area.

I believe this program will render knowledge, wisdom and understandings that will boost my confidence and help me to contribute to the betterment of society. My favorite author is James Joyce. Being a college student, Joyce won his first literary success shortly after turning 18 with an article, 'The new drama of Ibsen', published in the London Fortnightly Review. His first book, Chamber Music (1907), contain 36 love poems, very elaborate, reflecting the influence of the Elizabethan lyric poetry and the English lyric poets of the late nineteenth century. Joyce reached international fame in 1922 with the publication of Ulysses, a novel whose main idea is based on Homer's Odyssey. The reason why to decide do a PhD is probably the passion for research. The curiosity of wanting to deepen in one or more fields of study prompts me to enroll in PhD.

Preparedness and Current Position

If previous studies allow more general issues, the doctorate is aimed at obtaining knowledge that allows us to understand and explain issues or provide answers to several problems within a science. In doing so based on philosophical principles that guide both the generation of knowledge and its application in the scientific and social environment in which it develops. Doctoral studies represent a means and an opportunity for developing me to achieve the critical mass of knowledge. It also helps achieve important goals and improve the standard of my own understandings. The aim of knowledge is to serve society to discover and develop its own potential, increases my chances to learn and do the things I need and be more independent and competitive.

The doctoral program is offered in different disciplines and prepares students for advanced work in research, teaching and administration. Doctoral studies offer the candidate a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of their professional field and training in research methods. The criteria for granting the degree are based on an understanding of the subject matter and the demonstration that is capable of independent research. In addition, candidates must show their capability to articulate opinions noticeably both verbally and in writing.
