People come together to form organizations aimed at achieving common goals. When they grow, organizations need more people to carry out their activities. These people to join organizations pursue different individual goals they had in the beginning. This makes organizational objectives diverge from the individual and do not always agree. They are almost always in opposition. If one party takes advantage, the other discounted.
Part 1)
Analyze the strength, and challenge of a reward scheme like 'employee of the month (or a week, or year)' in relation to the theories of motivation (choose any two theories) covered in your course.
In the competitive environment, companies are considering to improve the quality of their product while reducing costs. As we know that the strong economy has resulted in a tight job market. However, small organizations are expecting a lot from their employees and employees are also expecting something in return. Employees' rewards programs in the organization are the method to motivate employees in order to change the working environment and fundamental behaviours to benefit a small business (Wright & Snell, 1998, pp. 756).
Teamwork translated in a variety of attitudes and behaviours that not related solely to teams. It must be understood that teamwork qualities can be displayed by a person in a committee or any other group. For a person to have teamwork skills, it is not necessary that he has to belong to a team. Teamwork normally engaged in the spirit of willingness towards achieving the common goals and expressing commitment through dedicated efforts. On the other hand, team working signifies a group of people who work as a team towards a set of common objectives. A team may or may not have teamwork skills. It is not necessary that if some people are working as a team, they should go on well with each other. There may be resentment or resistance towards other members or a lack of commitment towards achieving the said objectives.
The benefits of working as a team include a sense of ownership towards the roles and a conscious effort towards the fulfilment of duties in the shared task. On the other hand, the cash incentive systems create an environment of motivation. Some researchers argue that compensation systems support the development of unethical behaviour on the part of employees, who get away with a lion's share when it comes to pay-based compensation system. This practice might give rise to behavioural issues. One view is that the reward does not motivate people to work better, simply acts as a catalyst to streamline the behaviour of people and thus is a matter of conditioning (Alderfer, 2002, pp.44).
Measuring Performance

These indicators should help management to determine how effective and efficient are the employees in achieving the objectives, and thus fulfilling the mission of the organisation. They should be incorporated into a comprehensive system of measuring performance that enables simultaneous monitoring and consistent at ...
