Introduction

The purpose of parenteral nutrition (PN) is to cover patients' nutritional needs when the digestive tract is non-functional or inaccessible. The decision to start PN and the choice of PN solution should be adapted to the patient's diagnosis and nutritional status to avoid over- or undernutrition.
