The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the outputs of Palm Inc. This paper analyzes how Palm, Inc., has been doing in terms of its performance, how it stacks up against its goals. This paper measures the output of Palm Inc. by using the congruence model. Outputs are measured at three levels i.e. the individual level, group level and the organizational level. The analysis, of the performance of Pam Inc. is done through the congruence model, and it gives the result that how congruent the outputs across the three levels.
Discussion
Palm Inc. is the market leader in the mobile computing industry. Palm Inc. is becoming the market leader by acquiring the other mobile computing companies. In order to increase the performance of its employees, Palm Inc. is conducting different training sessions, making improvements in the company's operations and brining innovations and improvements in the technology. In order to measure the performance of Palm Inc. and check that whether it is congruent to the outputs or not, firstly we review the organizational outputs at all levels.
Outputs at Organizational Level
The output of the organization is considered to be the products and the services provided by the organization to its customers. In order to give the maximum and best output at the organizational level, Palm Inc. makes all its efforts. The output of organizational level is measured by the different factors as the total sales made by the company, the net profit earned, return on sales and assets, share of market in industry and customer satisfaction. It is estimated that the Palm Inc. has increased its profit to $98 million in 2010 which shows that the company is giving the best output at organizational level.
Outputs at Group Level
Palm Inc. has identified the groups as both the functional and the geographical groups and measures the performance at both levels. The functional groups of Palm Inc. have been categorized on the basis of the functions they perform. For example, Palm Inc. has made different groups like, the group performing the HR functions in termed as the HR group, and same is the case with the marketing, technical, administration and finance group. Similarly, the company has also identified the groups on the basis of their geographical locations. For example, it has categorized the groups on the basis of the location of its branches. Palm Inc. measures the performance of these groups individually and checks that how much output it is getting from these groups.
Outputs at Individual Level
The key individual functions at Palm Inc. are the functions performed by each and every individual of the organization. The company checks the function performed by each and every individual and then measures the productivity of each and every individual.
