Introduction

Communication within an Organization are messages or data that have been issued by either a corporate organization or institute to it internal members who are the employees, those who have shares in the company or are stakeholders. Also included are the eternal members such as agencies, media, partners of the organization, the government, educational public as well as general and industry institutes. It is crucial that the same message is sent throughout the organization and the stakeholders to maintain credibility, coherence and as it is ethical. The organization could fail otherwise as this type of communication helps businesses explain and transmit the message to the stakeholders of their mission, its various visions, organizational values through a cohesive message and any type of change in the management process that the employees need to be aware off for smooth functioning.

Organizational Communication and Approaches to Understand It

The definition depends on how we view the connection between and organization and communication. Various approaches are used to understand this form of communication. The container approach describes this to be as channeling a message to a receiver, emphasizing on the constraints placed on communication regarding the structures that already exists.

The social constructionist approach describes it as the development of social structures using language, structures such as teams, the network and relationships themselves, highlighting the potential communication has to create new possibilities and opportunities for organizing and communicating changes in the organization.

It is not constrained or creative, though it is viewed as a form that balances both, the focus remaining on those who use this form of communication to ease out the tension of working within the boundaries of organizational structures that exist from before and promoting concepts of change and creativity. A good example would be of an organization that is taking a major initiative to change its management process, an approach to transfer information on the changes to be expected throughout the organization will need to be communicated and messages to be delivered effectively to all members of the organization.

Social constructionist approach would create language patterns that would put in motion the desired change, which is creating a team-oriented organization where all members talk the language of teamwork. The approach most suitable to organization communication puts pressure on balancing constraint as well as creativity to achieve a balance between using communication that fosters the required change and is sensitive towards the constraints that already exist.
