Introduction

The following article can be related to industrial psychology, in this case focuses on the factors of motivation, leadership, and behaviors that occur in the workplace (the organization). Organizational Behavior (OB) is the study and application of knowledge about how people, individuals, and groups act in organizations. It does this by taking a system approach (Knoster, 2010).

Since all companies can be engaged in producing more and better in a globalized and competitive world, senior management of the organizations have to use all available means to meet their objectives. These media can be referred to strategic planning, capital raising, technology, appropriate logistics, personnel policies, appropriate use of resources, etc. Obviously, management strategies and staff development can be established as the most important factor that will help achieve business objectives and personal development of employees. Within this area, there are complex processes involved, such as:

In this context, the motivation of staff is an important means to prop up the personal development of workers and thus improve productivity in the company. It is very common to hear in organizations: "We must motivate our staff to work harder and produce better." All managers face an enormous challenge: motivating employees to produce the desired results with efficiency, quality and innovation, as well as satisfaction and commitment.

To maintain this level of commitment and effort, organizations need to properly assess the cooperation of its members, establishing mechanisms to have a workforce sufficiently motivated to perform efficiently and effectively, leading to the achievement of the objectives and goals of the organization and at the same time achieve the expectations and aspirations of its members. Such assumptions automatically lead inevitably focus the issue of motivation as an important element to generate, maintain, modify or change attitudes and behaviors in the desired direction.

Concept of motivation

Motivation is made up of all the factors that may cause, maintain, and direct behavior toward a goal. In the example of hunger, of course we have a motivation, since it leads to behavior that is going to seek food and also maintains, that is, the more hungry you are, we will move more directly to the appropriate satisfier. If we go to feed hungry, that is, the motivation leads us to meet the need. Motivation also considered as the impulse that leads a person to choose and action among alternatives that are presented in a given situation. Indeed, motivation can be related to the momentum, because it provides effective collective effort aimed at achieving the objectives of the company, for example, and pushes the individual to the continuous search for better situations to be professionally and personally, integrating and in the community where its action has a meaning. Motivation is both objective and action. Be motivated means to identify and, conversely, feel unmotivated represents the loss of interest and meaning of the objectives or what is the same, the impossibility of achieving it.
