The company was found in 1892 in Schenectady, New York by Thomas Edison, Elihu Thompson, Charles Coffin and Edwin Houston. Currently GE is headquartered at Connecticut, United States. The company operates in 4 major segments; energy, technology infrastructure, capital financing and industrial According to Forbes in 2011 GE was the third largest company in the world based on gross revenue.

In 1890 JP Morgan purchased many of his business interests under one corporation to formulate the Edison General Electric, meanwhile Charles Coffin who was the head of Thomson - Houston Electric company had acquired many competitors. General electric was officially formulated when the merger between General electric and Thomson Houston Electric company.

GE is focused on finding the best solutions in regards to energy, financing, buildings, infrastructure, powering and moving. GE has implemented numerous new technologies in order to identify better solutions in manufacturing and overall improving the world's economic grwoth.GE provides capital, infrastructure and expertise to the global economy. GE has spent billions of dollars in financing businesses and improving their products and procedures. GE builds appliances, lightings and power systems.
