In the conflict for self-reliance, the soldier's life was very difficult. Soldiers assisted in state militias or in the Continental Army. They were ranchers, artisans, some professionals and the juvenile men as well who got to understand what discomfort, nourishment shortages, reduced morale, and hazard of the conflict mean.
