If there is some fault in the quality of the product or service the operation management is responsible for it. The operations management deals with the processing of the inputs and outputs of the materials, the labour involved in it and the other factory over head involved in it. The inputs in the business operation management involve the raw materials, the labours for the manufacturing of the goods and the outputs involve the finished goods and services. The decisions aken in this regards are also involved in inputs.

The operations management department has strong link with other departments of the company. The finance department and the marketing department are interlinked with the operations management department. The strategies in the operations management are designed in a way that provides the cost effective production of the goods and services. The decisions are taken in a way that directly affects the operations management. Hence the operations management plays a central role in the manufacturing as well as in the service industries. The operations management in any company provides the basic framework for the functions of the operations departments.
