Job Description

The operation theatre is an area of high stress. Operation room nurses are specially trained for this position. The first quality they should posses is to be able to work under pressure as many times surgeons have to operate upon emergency cases. They should also be able to tolerate the sight of a lot of blood as the patients bleed in the operation

Education and Certification

Candidate must complete a Bachelor Degree and should have applied to 4 years of medical school in order to get the job of OR nurse.

Candidate must have passed at least three successive stringent national board exams (Step 1, 2 and 3 following according to United State Medical Licensing Exams, “USMLE”), which covers all questions from surgical and medicine fields.

Employment

There are numerous hospitals that require OR nurse. The nurses must have excellent knowledge, communication, management and decision making skills. The entry level individuals are given training first and usually on a certain period of probation. The salary range is attributed to level of experience, environment, employer, and geographic location. However, the range is between $55,864 and $67,890.
