Online education versus the Traditional, On-Campus Classroom Experience

Education and learning have the epitome all learning and knowledge extracted by us and established in the real world today. These days, with technology changing and evolving at the speed of light, it becomes rather difficult to analyze and identify what information is valid and which could actually come to assistance and aid of human beings today (Mineka & Zinbarg, 2006). Many people, even in today's updated and learned environment, continue to choose traditional, tangible methods of teaching their kids and giving them education in an environment of proper academic excellence. These days, technology has taken all disciplines of learning and education by storm; disciplines as old as nursing and healthcare have adopted technology as part of their work load and have continued to adopt learning skills and gain expertise in a particular area (Hensley & Singer, 2004).

However, technology hasn't quite been able to change the course of learning and education for areas such as aviation, armed forces, police investigations and many others, where traditional classrooms, constant rapport with pupils and students in the classrooms, relationship development with the teachers and instructors, which not only makes way for problem resolution, but also establishes stronger on the subject taught in class (Mineka & Zinbarg, 2006).

Traditional classrooms not only add to one's personality in terms of attitude development and behavioral display, but aims to provides the exact environment, which is necessary for students and pupils to gain the relevant understanding and comprehension towards a subject and retaining the knowledge gained in the classroom (Hensley & Singer, 2004).

On the other hand, online education, more formally entitled 'E-Learning' has evolved and changed the course of education by digitizing the entire experience. Students are directly connected to teachers as one-on-one connect and rapport and continue to gain the relevant knowledge and education regarding subjects.

Unfortunately, although there has been ample education provided online and that a majority has become involved in undertaking online education, there has been several problems and cons associated with e-learning (Hensley & Singer, 2004).

First, there is the problem of credibility and validity associated with e-learning and online education; parents and guardian who have studied in the conventional classrooms find it unbelievable and rather difficult to register that online education ...
