Explain how you would handle this situation if you were Charles Renfold?

In the preceding years, organizations have put into practice anti-smoking guidelines within their work area due to issues in employee well being that come up due to smoke caused by cigarette smoking for both; the people who smoke and people who do not smoke. In the case of Redwood Associates and the situation with Darlene I was in place of Charles Renfold I would place a ban on smoking in the work-premises as passive smoking can cause greater damage on people who do not smoke that puts them in a risky situation and increases their probability of being a victim of cancer or lung disease (Fong, 2006). Excessive coughing is one of the symptoms/ immediate effects of inhaling smoke, and people who smoke have to realize that the people in their surroundings a being victims of passive smoking. As per the issue of Darlene not willing to make a report, which was required by the administration, I will keep in mind Darlene's health hazards and feelings of being victim of passive smoking at the work place.

Describe the policy on smoking that you would recommend to redwood associates.

The strategy that would be suggested to Redwood Associates from my side would be to design specific sections where people can smoke, and keeping the rest of the work place as no smoking zone. This would not only help people like Darlene to conduct their work in a hygienic environment, but it would also allow individuals like Frank and Alice to go and smoke in the designated areas within the work place.
