Introduction

In this paper I am going to talk about a young African lady of twenty four years of age, whose name is Nancy. She is undergraduate drop out of University of California, Hayward. I will talk about how Nancy's parent devoice has turn her to be become drug addict and is in denial of self-destructive behavior. I will show how Nancy went through.

Nancy was brought to the United States of America when she was seven years old. Four years prior to her arrival to the United States, her parent; Mr. Karley and Ante Joy had undergone a bitter devoice experience due to her father's infidelities and her mother's misappropriation of money. Ante Joy; Nancy's mother kept the devoice secret to Nancy. Mr. Karley in question moved on with his life and got married to an Asian woman with two step daughters of Nancy's age group.

Nancy's nightmares began when her father introduced the Asian woman and her kids to her as her step mother and sisters. At first she felt startled, confused and betrayed; she could not understand or accept fact that her father has got married to another woman. She asked her father about her biological mother and was told they have devoiced. After long hours of crying and weeks of grieving, Nancy started acting out in protest and could not accept the step mother and her kids as family.

Furthermore, Nancy confronted her mother and why she kept it secret from her but was negatively influenced by her biological mother Ante Joy, who was still in Africa; she was told how her father's former girlfriend attempted poisoning and was at nearly death when she was a baby. Nancy became more embittered against her father, felt insecure and would not want to see him in any way possible. She sought for comfort from her peers at school and would not want to be at home. At the age twelve Nancy was already into drugs because she developed chronic depression and will want to feel high when she alone. Nancy's hatred and anger toward her father is usually transferred to any person that will see her destructive situation and give her a kindly advice.

Furthermore, she has a habit of striking friendship with people so easily but will cut off association or relationship when she feels you are being intrusive into her private affairs. Nancy usually becomes resentful and agitated when her father's name is mentioned in a conversation. She protests and acts violently. I think she has begun to see her father resemblance in people who are concern about her drug addictions. She also doesn't want to be under any authority.
