I am deeply interested in serving my community as a nurse. It has been my childhood interest to be a nurse. In many hospitals, I observed that there is shortage of nurses and I want to be the one to decrease the shortage.

Black women did not have access to professional nurse training until well into the 1800s. Before that time, nursing schools were open only to whites.
